American Heart Association Training

The Cortland Fire Department is uniquely positioned to provide a host of BLS, ACLS, AED and First-Aid classes to both medical professionals’ and laypersons. Various different classes are hosted throughout the year at our headquarters fire station at 30 W. North Ave Cortland, Illinois. Additionally, our instructors can travel to different locations within the community or surrounding area to offer customized training based on the end user’s schedule and needs.

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED– 2 year certification 3 Hours | $30.00 Class fee limit 15 per class

Course Description This classroom course teaches basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift and giving compressions and breaths.  The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card. Course content:

  • Adult CPR and AED use
  • Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR, including child and infant choking

Text Book #90-1044 (required)  Student are required to purchase their own textbook prior to the class date.  Book may be purchaes on-line through numerous vendors.  For example: eworldpoint.com, laerdal.com, & amazon.com

American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider– 2 year certification 4.0 Hours | $40.00 Class fee limit 15 per class

Course Description This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Course content:

  • 1-rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • 2-rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • CPR with an advanced airway
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

Text Book # 90-1038 or E-Book 90-1038EB (required). Students are required to purchase their own textbook or E-Book prior to the class date. These may be purchased on-line through numerous vendors.
